  • DEISLER, Edward G., of Saginaw, our beloved father, grandfather, and brother passed away on Wednesday, March 9, 2016, surrounded by his family. He was 91years old. Edward George Deisler, Jr. was born on May 11, 1924, to Edward G. and Bernadette (LaVeck) Deisler. He married Mary Patrice "Pat" Harden on August 28, 1948, at St. Mary's Cathedral; she preceded him in death on July 24, 2010. Ed graduated from St. Mary's High School and then attended St. Mary's College in Winona, MN. He continued his education at the University of Notre Dame where he enrolled in the V-12 Program. In 1942, Ed served with the United States Marine Corps in Saipan and Okinawa, Japan for four years. Upon his honorable discharge, he attended Wayne State University where he obtained his Mortuary Science License. Ed was a licensed funeral director for over 68 years, serving the Saginaw community. He was the President of Deisler Funeral Home from 1951 until his retirement in 1989. He was extremely proud that the Deisler Funeral Home was, and still is, the oldest funeral home in the Saginaw community founded in 1888, continues to serve the community 128 years later through his son, Thomas, a fourth generation family funeral director/owner. In addition to owning the funeral home, Ed founded State Lanes and Stardust Bowling establishments with his brothers, Joe and Tony.   • A kind, patient and gentle soul, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Leonard A. Boensch, 89, of Saginaw, peacefully passed away Saturday evening January 16, 2021 at the Veteran's Palliative Care Unit in Saginaw. He was born April 25, 1931 to the late Carl and Agatha (Berghoff) Boensch. After attending Indiantown Grade School, he graduated from St. Joseph Catholic High School in 1949 and served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955. He farmed with his father and four brothers until 1969. He then worked at Wiltsie Tool and Stork Engineering as a welder before opening Boensch Garage in 1971. Always a farmer in heart and mind, he and his son Tim, farmed side by side until 2015. On July 12, 1958 Len married the love of his life, Carol J. Guerin, daughter of the late Joseph and Dorothy (Size) Guerin. She survives him along with their children Karen Young, Kathy (Craig) Wascher, and Timothy (Julie) Boensch, their grandchildren Kayla (Brett Sebens) Young, Kevin Young, Christopher (Cassie Leightner) Wascher, Kyle (Christy) Wascher, and Kaitlyn (Calvin) Hugo and their great grandchildren, Jacey Hugo, Joslyn Hugo and Kian Wascher. Len was thrilled to be a grandfather and so very proud of each and every one of his grandchildren. Saginaw, Michigan Our loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and dear friend passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 10, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was 81 years old. Paul D. Black was born on April 9, 1942, in Alpena, Michigan, to the late Sebert and Harriet (O’Toole-Zirkle) Black. Paul graduated from Alpena High School in 1960. He married his high school sweetheart, Bonnie Jean Byers, on June 10, 1961, celebrating 62 wonderful years together. Shortly after his high school graduation, he enlisted with the United States Army. Following boot camp, he was assigned to the 101st Airborne Division in Fort Campbell, Kentucky. He later moved to Fort Riley, Kansas, with the 1st Infantry Big Red One. While on maneuvers for Fort Riley, Paul taught at West Point. Paul was also assigned to the Airborne Division 8th Army in Bad Krueznach, Germany. While serving in Germany, he was selected to participate with the German Paratroopers Unit. Paul ended his active military career with the 82nd Airborne Division at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. He proudly served with the United States Army for eight years and then continued his service with the Army National Guard as SFC for an additional 12 years.   • Joe Elizalde age 89, passed away Thursday, October 11, 2018 at Covenant Cooper. Joe was born March 20, 1929 in Carrollton, Michigan the son of Luther and Maria (Moreno) Elizalde. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Joe was united in marriage to the former Frances Perez in 1954. Joe was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #4232 and the American Legion Post #500. He enjoyed spending time out at the Independence Village in Frankenmuth with his special friend, Shirley Lounsberry. Joe also enjoyed spending time outside; whether it was gardening, yardwork or just listening to his music. Joe is survived by his children; Stephen, Clifford (Kelly) and David Elizalde, grandchildren; JoAnn, Kyle, Kari, and Kaley Elizalde special friend; Shirley Lounsberry, sister; Judy Elizalde and several nieces and nephews. Joe was preceded in death by his wife; Frances and granddaughter; Cami Elizalde. The family of Joe would like to give a special thank you to the staff of Covenant Cooper ICU, for their outstanding care and for going above and beyond for Joe and his family.
